The moth-in-the-relay story was told in the first person by Grace Murray Hopper, and the moth itself is on display in the logbook, wherever it is kept at present. She has told this story many times, in many forums, including, I believe, the book "A History of Computing in the Twentieth Century". The term "bug" was used before World War II for a defect or problem in a mechanical device -- it is just that this is the first documented _computer_ bug!
