Upon purchasing a box of formatted disks, I took them to the checkout (this was a discount store, not a computer store). It turns out they put one of those security devices on a lousy $5 box of disks. To disable the security stickum, they had to run the box over a high powered magnet several times. The sign next to the magnet said "Keep Credit Cards Away" as apparently magnets might actually destroy encoded data. Bob "using eel-skin disk sleeves for protection" Hiebert Tektronix says these are just my opinions.
